Stambolovo Winery falls within the Thracian Valley Wine Region of Bulgaria and is included in Bulgaria’s Southern Route of Wine.

STAMBOLOVO WINERY, in alliance with the former HASKOVO WINERY, is a successor to Patkovi Winemaking Firm, founded in 1932. In 1947 it was nationalized and made part of the newly formed State’s Spirit Monopoly. The winery became a private property again in 1997. Since that time the efforts of the new management are focused into maintaining and enriching the winemaking tradition and reputation of the STAMBOLOVO brand name, of its showpiece high-quality Bulgarian reds, and especially of the emblematic Merlot wines of Stambolovo.

The winery produces high-quality wines and wine brandies made of red and white grape varieties. A unique collection of oenotheque and collectors’ wines is kept in our cellars. The stocks of high-quality aged Merlot AOC wines from the regions of Stambolovo and Sakar with vintages from 1986 to-date are internationally famous and considered to be the most typical and valued paragons of Bulgarian Merlot wines in the world.

Being a company of almost 80 years of winemaking tradition, we take pride in the thousands of wines that were created in the course of all these years by generations of cellar masters. For our wines we use some typical and emblematic Bulgarian grape varieties such as Mavrud, Tamianka and Dimiat, most of the traditional grapes of the Old World, as well as the newcomer to Bulgaria from the New World - the Syrah breed. Since decades we maintain and develop the centuries-old traditions of our region for production of high-quality wines, striving at the same time to renew and enrich the classical winemaking techniques with the achievements of modern technology.

It is a doubtless fact that in Bulgaria and abroad the brandname MERLOT FROM STAMBOLOVO is equivalent to Bulgarian Merlot wines of the highest possible quality and class.
